ENGAGEMENT > PROPOSAL IDEAS
Originally I was going to propose on top of the continental divide in Estes Park Colorado. I planned on taking the motorcycle up their and asking her in the exact same place that we went on our first date. Unfortunately their is still snow up there and I got tired of waiting so I came up with another plan. We were going back to California to visit my family and have a late Passover celebration and we were planning a separate trip to the wine country for a night. While in Napa we got a private tour of the Opus One winery from a family friend. No one knew what I was going to do. At the end of the tour we got a glass of wine and went up to the deck overlooking all of the vineyards. When she wasn't paying attention I fished the family ring out of my pocket, got down on one knee and asked Shelli to be my wife. SHE SAID YES, and all the people on the deck (no one we knew) started crying and congratulating us. It was great. The we got to have a make shift engagement party and Passover celebration at the same time. Now we are looking for a more permanent engagement ring (the one I gave her is a little fragile, but still beautiful) as well as wedding bands. We love your jewelry and I just wanted to share our story with you. Thanks for reading.

I set up an elaborate weekend that included snowboarding, babysitting and lying through my teeth to pull this off. Between doing things with her that weekend, I spent my spare moments (usually really late at night or really early in the morning) in a commercial sized freezer making a small ring stand made out of ice. After an elaborate plan to stall until just the right time on Sunday (Just before sunset), I took her to a special park where I had asked her out and began walking with her to “our” spot, a place where we had shared many memories, read books, swimming, talking, etc. When she saw the stand--which had two candles, a picture of us, the ring and a rose on it--and rose petals scattered all around it, she froze and said, “It looks like a proposal!… or some sick twisted cultic ritual!” Then, once she got closer and saw that the picture was of us, she couldn’t believe it. I led her over to the table, got down on my knees and proposed. When I was done she said, “Yes, yes, of course yes!”

As a ski instructor I was lucky enough to find the love of my life on the last day of the ski season in Vermont. She parked next to me in the parking lot and got out of her car with a bright smile, she jokingly asked if I had a free lift ticket not knowing I was an instructor. I kindly obliged by walking her to the ticket office and provided her with a complimentary ticket for the day. With gratitude she asked me to ski a run or two with her, not knowing her ability I politely accepted truly believing I could probably get away to the bump trails in two or three runs. When we got to our skis I realized that she was one of those free heelin' telemark loyals. Needles to say I have been with my love, the expert telemark skier every day since !
My proposal I figured should stay in line with our ski theme since it is such a big part of our lives. I contacted the Warren Miller extreme ski film producers in Colorado to speak to them about setting up a marriage proposal for when they toured their new film at the Bushnell theatre in Hartford, CT. At first phone call I nearly got hung up on thinking I was some kind of crazy man with a thing for prank calls. They flat out wondered if I was insane. After a little explaining we were all on the same page and everyone thought it would be a neat idea to pull it off. Warren Miller films pulled into town to the 3,000 seat Bushnell and I was called up on stage during intermission to help with the selection of raffle prize winners. The MC asked me to pick one winning ticket from a mail cart of the 3,000 attendees. Before rolling the cart out we planted my loves ticket to the side of the cart, naturally the first selection was hers. The MC made the request for Donna..... to come claim her prize and he handed me the microphone. At this point no one in the audience knew the plan and I excitedly greeted Donna at the stage. She looked so beautiful with her blue eyes sparkling and warm smile I felt as though it were just her and I together. I explained to her how shy I was sitting on the lift next to her the first day we met and how my love for her has grown every day since. I kneeled down, opened the box with the ring and asked for her hand in marriage at 12,300 feet at the top of Copper Mountain ski area in Colorado at Christmas. Shaking with excitement she accepted, placed the ring on her finger and to an absolutely deafening explosion of applause from the crowd she happily lifted her ring hand in the air and showed everyone attending. I found the true eternal love of my life.

My fiancé and I always go pumpkin picking every year around Halloween. This particular year, I was so sick and did not want to go. I was finally talked into going. I arrived at my fiancé's house and as we were getting ready to leave, my fiancé left his wallet inside. His parents and sister said they would leave and meet us there. After about 15 minutes my fiancé returned with his wallet and we were off pumpkin picking. When we arrived at Jones Tree Farm, there were a ton of cars. There are many of acres of land to pick pumpkins. I said to him" we are never going to find your family." He replied "Yes we will." When we started to walk to the pumpkin patch, they were just standing there waiting for us. I could not believe we found them. His sister was filming the trees with my fiancé's video camera and he had made a comment about how she took his camera without asking. Still not figuring anything out, I walked over to where his family was. We all started to look around for the best pumpkin. Everyone I chose was "not good enough." When finally my fiancé said to me, "What about this one?" My first impression was, "Why do we want this one when someone already carved into it?" After looking at it a few times, I realized it was carved with the words "Will you marry me?" I was SHOCKED and all I could say was "Oh my God!" My fiancé said open it. The top of the pumpkin was cut and I lifted the top to find a beautiful letter he wrote me on Halloween stationary and my gorgeous diamond engagement ring. I was so excited that I never answered him. He knelt down beside me and said "well?" and I said "YES!!!!" We kissed and everyone around us clapped and congratulated us. And we got it all on tape!

My girlfriend (at the time) and I were on vacation in South Bethany, DE. I had the diamond FedEx'd from the Philadelphia store to the beach house on Monday morning. We usually play Scrabble after dinner while on vacation at the beach (wild couple). I cooked her dinner, flounder with freshly caught crab meat stuffing. Awesome. Before dinner, I put the Scrabble letters M A R R Y M E in my pocket and after dinner we began playing. Halfway through the game I got my chance with an open "E" on the board. I switched tiles while she wasn't looking and pondered all over the board, finally deciding on Triple Word Score M A R R Y M E. The game pretty much ended there.
Nick and I were flying to Aruba for a vacation. We were about 40 minutes from landing when the pilot came on the intercom and said that since we had been such a good flight, that he was going to reward one of the passengers. The pilot said he was going to announce a seat number and the individual in that seat was to come to the front of the plane and collect a prize from the stewardess. The pilot called seat 4E. Nick turned to me and told me that it was my seat. I first tried to get Nick to go up for me but he refused. I walked up to the stewardess and she handed me a bottle of wine. She said, "Congratulations hon but I think that Nick has something more important to ask you." The stewardess turned me around, and there was Nick down on one knee. Behind Nick, there were over 200 passengers clapping and cheering. Nick then asked if I would marry him. I started hysterically crying and the pilot came on the intercom asking what the answer was. I said yes of course. Once we landed, Nick and I got to get pictures taken in the cockpit and with our special pilot and stewardess. We now have pictures and the perfect proposal to last a lifetime!
